What is the .BIZ top-level domain?
.BIZ is the world's first Internet-based environment dedicated
exclusively to the business community. It promises to be much
more than just another domain name. In addition to providing
businesses with an enhanced presence on the Web, the .BIZ database
platform will soon be able to provide services that more efficiently
facilitate commerce across the Internet. Simply put, .BIZ means
business.
-
Do .BIZ domain names have restrictions?
Yes. The .BIZ domain can only be used for a "bona fide
business or commercial use". A bona fide business use is
one of the following:
- To exchange goods, services, or property
of any kind;
- In the ordinary course of trade or business;
or
- To facilitate (i) the exchange of goods,
services, information, or property of any kind; or, (ii) the
ordinary course of trade or business.
Registering a domain name solely for the purposes of (1) selling,
trading or leasing the domain name for compensation, or (2)
the unsolicited offering to sell, trade or lease the domain
name for compensation does not constitute a "bona fide
business or commercial use" of that domain name.
For illustration purposes, the following do not constitute
a "bona fide business or commercial use" of a domain
name:
- Using or intending to use the domain name
exclusively for personal, noncommercial purposes; or
- Using or intending to use the domain name
exclusively for the expression of noncommercial ideas (i.e.,
registering abcsucks.biz exclusively to criticize or otherwise
express an opinion on the products or services of ABC company,
with no other intended business or commercial purpose).
-
How do I register a .BIZ domain name?
Domain names may be registered through any ICANN-accredited,
.BIZ
Registrar.
-
Where can a list of ICANN-Accredited Registrars be found?
The list of ICANN-accredited .BIZ Registrars can be found by
going to the Partners section of the NeuLevel web site and clicking

-
How do I modify my domain information?
To modify server, contact or registrant information, please
contact your Registrar directly. As the Registry, NeuLevel cannot
make modifications submitted by domain name registrants.
-
How do I modify my domain name if my sponsoring Registrar
says they don't have access to the name?
First, make sure that your domain name status shows: "OK"
in NeuLevel's WHOIS database (www.whois.biz).
If it does, contact your Registrar and ask a supervisor or manager
to send us a modification request email at registrarsupport@neulevel.biz,
along with their pass-phrase. We will then make the changes
for them. Please note that we can only process changes submitted
by Registrars.
If your domain shows a status other than "OK" in NeuLevel's
database, please contact support@neulevel.biz.
-
How do I transfer my .BIZ domain name?
Domain name transfers fall in one of two categories:
-
Registrant Transfer or Name ChangeEach Registrar
has unique requirements for making changes to the registrant
field of a domain name. Registrants must contact the sponsoring
Registrar for information regarding Registrant Name Changes
and/or Transfers. The sponsoring Registrar appears in line
3 of each domain name's WHOIS record (www.whois.biz).
-
Registrar-to-Registrar TransferICANN rules
require that a domain name be registered for a minimum of
60 days, and be in PAID status with the current sponsoring
Registrar before it can be transferred to another Registrar.
If your domain name meets these requirements, contact your
current sponsoring Registrar and request for the <AUTHINFO>
code, which the gaining Registrar needs in order to initiate
the transfer process for your domain. Sponsoring Registrars
can obtain this code by sending a <DOMAIN_INFO>
EPP command to their Registry.
-
What is an <AUTHINFO> code?
An <AUTHINFO> code is a six- to 16-character "password"
assigned by a sponsoring Registrar. It identifies your domain
name in the Registry. No domain name transfer request can be
successfully executed without this password.
Registrars are contractually required to provide this code
upon registrant request. Registrants are advised to protect
their <AUTHINFO> codes to avoid unauthorized transfers
of domain names.
-
My domain name shows a status of "Inactive" in
your database. Why?
You will only receive this message if NeuLevel does not receive
valid server information at the time of registration. Please
contact your registrar to have them submit correct server information.
